MUSEUM TO SCALE 1/7

Afbeelding van het kunstwerk

Arne Quinze

(Ghent , 1971 )

There is no chaos, only structure (2011)

MIXED TECHNIQUE

The orange-red wooden wickerwork in the corner of Arne Quinzes museum room looks chaotic, like his other installations. But in a museum room to scale, the sculpture obviously loses its function as a meeting place. It is the text on the back wall of the room that draws the viewer's attention to the fact that what at first appears to be a trash heap is essentially a well-thought-out construction. The assertion that there is no chaos but only structure, by the way, refers not only to Quinze's oeuvre. The artist's slogan is also an invitation to the viewer to think further: about one's own life, or about science and philosophy.
