Arne Quinze

(Ghent , 1971 )

Arne Quinze is a conceptual artist who gained fame with striking installations in public spaces. In 2006, together with Belgian DJ Maurice Engelen, he created the temporary sculpture Uchronia for the renowned Burning Man festival in Nevada (USA). It would turn out to be a blueprint for the recognisable, brightly coloured constructions he realised all over the world in the following years. Often his sculptures were imagined as meeting places in public spaces. Their toxic, bright colour explicitly highlights the contrast between nature and culture. A conceptual work by Arne Quinze, who lives and works in Sint-Martens-Latem, is integrated in the gallery of Building I on the Middelheim Campus of the University of Antwerp.
