MIXED TECHNIQUE
In 2016 a work by Philippe Van Snick was integrated into the new Building Z on the Campus Groenenborger of the University of Antwerp. In addition to ten vertical panels in his signature colour palette applied in the stairwell, Van Snick painted the pillars of the concrete ‘mushrooms’ of the bicycle sheds using only blue and black, colours representing day and night. Because of this existing connection, Van Snick’s museum room is also exhibited on this campus. Its title refers to a specific room. It stores the repertory of shapes and colours from which the artist has drawn almost his entire oeuvre. Once again, the walls are painted in blue and black. Within this ‘cosmic’ framework, the specific arrangement of the objects – with their different shapes, colours and sizes – not only determines the dynamics
