In 2005, the artist says goodbye as an office clerk. 'It's 2005 and I'm 65. I am going to quit all activities. Yours sincerely, Panamarenko. Gort dryly, Panamarenko announces his “retirement. In this sense alone, Pastille Motor from 2011 is an exceptional work. Here, Panamarenko revisits his experiments from the 1980s and 1990s with the Pastille Motor. An early version of this soft backpack motor had exploded then, so Panamarenko builds a cage around it for safety in 2011. The work brings together, in a universe that can only belong to Panamarenko, three worlds that usually remain neatly separated in our hyper-specialized society. The artist reconciles the world of the laboratory (the metal cage in which the artist-hermit experiments to his heart's content) with the corporate world (the logo on the back wall) and with the world of the artist, who explores the wide world with his experiments.
