The triptych in Chiennerie et Trilogie gives the impression of being a piece of monochromatic painting. Those who look more closely discover that in the many layers of the paintings - as is often the case in Michel Mouffe's work - a range of colors is hidden. Equally deceptive, by the way, is the surprising play with the reading direction of this triptych. By the anomalous number of reliefs he inserts into the three canvases, Mouffe undermines the logic of a mathematical row and the direction of writing (left to right) that we are used to in the West. On the left against the wall, he mounts a so-called Chiennerie: a work in which the pared-down experiment with painting culminates in a meaningless form, in an amorphous sculpture.
