3 BRONZE SCULPTURES IN STEEL BOX
With the childishly impatient question of whether we are almost there, Thomas Lerooy reminds us of the inevitable nearness of death. Three bronze sculptures are arranged in a steel space, both behind the passageway on the left and behind the passageway on the right, a black hole yawns. The three figures of dogs recall Cerberus, the three-headed dog that in Greek mythology guarded the underworld and kept the living from entering the afterlife and the dead from returning from it. Each dog has in place of a head a golden human skull. He is the inseparable life companion of man, who is vain and remains blind to his natural destiny. You can stand proudly upright, lie dejectedly waiting or frantically break your head about another way out, but in this measured space, which is no more than a transition, there is ultimately no escape from the endless void.
