Dance the world (2013)

VIDEO INSTALLATION WITH 3 SCREENS

Dance the world is the title of a lyrical film about tango and flamenco dancers that Lafontaine made in 2008, a project that was also reflected in book form in 2010. The museum room is typical of the installative form her video work often takes. By playing the video on three screens simultaneously and by using mirrors and columns, Lafontaine creates a disorienting experience. Dance the world is a kind of video sculpture you have to step into, so to speak. The whole thing arouses amazement rather than imparting knowledge, for it lacks a clear storyline or well-defined context.
