INSTALLATION WITH 5 SCREENS IN INTERIOR DESIGN
Stallaert himself describesUntitled as an installation of five screens in an interior design. But design in this case turns out to be a euphemism for an unusual hotchpotch: a late-nineteenth-century fireplace in marble, a cabinet that still vaguely recalls the oeuvre of Charles & Ray Eames, and a run-of-the-mill sofa and ditto coffee table. All in all, the heterogeneous, petty-bourgeois interior cannot compete with the image of success and solid ideals of beauty evoked on the five screens Stallaert affixed to the walls of the room. The screens hold up to the occupant of this interior, as it were, a mirror of an unattainable world.
