With Action Doll, Wim Delvoye glorifies and parodies himself as a self-made “super artist. Inside the toy box - embellished with platitudinous marketing - is the artist himself in the form of a doll to work on two of his most iconic projects: Cloaca and the series featuring tattooed pigs. Hence, the toy box was provided with the slogan: Tattoo on the farm & make your own shit. In this way Delvoye glorifies, parodies and criticizes the excesses of a neoliberal consumer society in which he self-consciously participates as an artist.
