In an increasingly professionalised art world, concept and production have become separated. Hence Boy & Erik Stappaerts operates under a double name: Boy is responsible for the concept, Erik for putting it into to execution. Stappaerts studied at the Sint-Lucas Institute in Brussels and continued his education at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam. In 2005, he won the Visual Arts Prize of the Province of Antwerp. His work on the verge of sculpture, painting and design offers a response to our ‘grey’ world.
